When Beth Jukuri gets home from delivering mail on her rural Chassell route, she doesnít take time to sit down and relax, no, she bundles up and gets outdoors for a walk. Now that the snow is melting, she takes her walk on the road and passed the Sturgeon River earlier this week, as it is beginning to break up and flow. Beth said itís noticeable how much the water is going down. Another discovery along her walking route was a big tree that the beavers have been busily gnawing at and succeeded in felling it. Looks like that tree might be too big around for the beavers to haul to build their dam though, maybe not, because they are quite the industrious little builders.

PBS has an informative video about beavers in North America and how they build their dams. Itís really something to see them working like furry engineers to construct their dams and stick lodges.

Question? Do Beavers holler TIMBER when the tree is about to fall?
If not how do the other beavers know when to get out of the way?
