Winter here in the U.P. lasts sometimes for five to six months, so in order to make the time go faster, it’s best to get outside and enjoy winter pastimes if you’re able. Beth Jukuri is a woman on the move no matter the season and during the winter months she’s out there skiing or snowshoeing just about every day. This past week she had her young granddaughter out on the trails with her and even at her young age, she’s become quite good at snowshoeing with Grandma. On this excursion, she brought along a friend, too! How cute is that?

While you’re outdoors enjoying the snow, it’s best to keep your eyes open for the beauty that surrounds you. Michele Mukavetz found today’s second shot right in her own yard. She said this snow-heart was in a pine tree in front of their patio/porch. A neat addition to today’s fun things to do in the winter.

We’re taking a look at the sport of Luge sledding and the only natural full-length Luge track in the United States. It’s located in Negaunee and operated by the U.P. Luge Club, open to all ages and skills, from beginners, who start at the bottom, to experienced sledders who go from the top. Join “Discovering” with a look at the Luge Club and track, along with their winter festivities.

Nice pic's and video Heikki Lunta!!

jbuck, Appointment is this Tuesday to see if the boot can come off. If lengthening the Achilles tendon does not provide relief of pressure on the ball of my foot and ulcers return, a third more advanced surgery of removing the sezimoied bone in the ball of my foot will be necessary in a couple of weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed, thanks for asking.
