Winter creates some interesting sculptures with wind and snow, like the one Ellie Hopf sent us in 2010. She said her husband thought it looked like a bird, Ellie was a bit more specific, saying it looked like a chicken to her, which she said IS technically a bird. What do you see in this creation from nature?

Sometimes people create interesting and quite humorous roadside attractions here UP North. Mary Schmitt was in Calumet when she snapped the second picture in 2014. Looks like someone took a nosedive in that huge mountain of snow. I wonder if they were stuck there until spring?

Today’s video is from that same year, published by WLUK-TV Fox 11, when the ice shoves on Lake Michigan overtook the shores in Menominee. Amazing what the force of nature can do.

I think it looks like the chute on a snow blower that is covered with snow.
