Jumping around here UP North, today, starting with a beautiful morning scene from Bob Gilreath in 2006. That’s the Little Red Schoolhouse on the Houghton County Historical Museum campus in Lake Linden, with the sun just beginning to rise behind it.

In 2007, Robert C. Wetton (RIP) was in Houghton and captured a good shot of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge in the early morning, with the lights glowing underneath and around it. This is looking toward Ripley and you can see the ski hill was snow covered and open for the season then.

We take to the air with E. Neil Harri for our 2013 archive shot of Fort Wilkins in Copper Harbor. The grounds are camouflaged quite well from the air, with the white snow and white painted buildings. If it wasn’t for the windows and doors showing up as dark spots, you might fly over and not even notice anything is there.

Brad DuLong was UP in the Keweenaw for a visit this past weekend and passed through Christmas, MI on his way, giving a big wave to Santa in town there. I remember as a youngster going to visit family downstate and always getting excited to see Christmas in the summer as we passed through the little town.

If you’re looking for a quiet get-away here in the Copper Country, where you can enjoy outdoor winter activities, check out today’s video about the Fort Wilkins Fanny Hooe Cabin available for rent in the winter months, too.

Neil has always set the bar for the drone pictures ~
he's so much higher and the pictures that much more
spectacular.

We used to mail our Christmas cards in Christmas on
the way downstate. Seldom did anyone ever comment on
the postmark but we still enjoyed mailing them there.

The "Dawning Day" 2006 picture is spectacular ~ if
every day started like that it would be a lot easier
to get going in the morning.

The cabin looks nice but I did not see any bathroom. Might be a little cold using the out house.
