We’re being treated to a nice variety today, both from the archives and in our current photo, too. Our first archive shot comes from Peg Riemer back in 2000. She snapped a beautiful photo of the Twin Lakes Park carpeted in leaves. The picnic tables are still in place and it looks like it was a nice enough day to stop there for a Fall picnic.

Our next archive photo was snapped in 2003, by Sandeep Fernandes. The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are spectacular to view in person and the Keweenaw is often one of the best places for viewing. When you can’t see them in person, the next best thing is photographers sharing their shots like this one.

Joe Kirkish is another of the area photographers that is always willing to share his photos. He always has a good eye for what folks enjoy and today’s archive photo from 2010 is a great example of that. He combines his love for Lake Superior with a little remaining Autumn color on this lone shoreline tree...simple beauty.

The current photo in our lineup was snapped recently when Don Afman was here in the U.P. for a Fall visit. The Tobacco River was really running after all the rain we’ve been having lately. This is often where we like to put our kayaks in for a paddle around the area, but not with the river running like rapids. I bet you could really hear the water making its way into the Big Lake, too.

Our video today is from 2014, by Under the Radar, episode #404 featuring Shawn Malone of Lake Superior Photo, in Marquette. Shawn has shared countless photos with us throughout the years and this video shows some of her work, including her Aurora photos.

Incredible! Planet Earth is an amazing place to hole up, I think I'll stick around awhile.

What a fantastic video.

The Tobacco River was indeed raging that day just 2 weeks ago. Even the Tobacco Falls on the other side of the Gay/Lac Le Belle Road bridge were completely inundated by the rushing water.

Tobacco River "Falls"?

Nice set of pix, D.A.. #17 looks a little like Sir Charles.

I don't think it was Charlie, but then again I
haven't seen him recently.

Thanks on the pictures. I just wished it had been
sunny and no rain, but any day I can breathe in
(and out) the fresh air is a good one.
