The archives held a few shots about fishing for today, but mostly about relaxing. Which is what many people do on Labor Day. I looked up the meaning of Labor Day on Wikipedia and this is what I found: “Labor Day in the United States is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, laws, and well-being of the country.” So in honor of American Laborers, the Pasty Cam is going fishing and to the beach. We start with Tim Bertsos in 2007, who captured this pair of fishermen out to catch the “Big One”. Hope it’s not too big of one or it might just pull them overboard.

Then in 2012, we join Peg Hardt and family, out on their dock (and in the boat, too), as they also fish for the “Big One”. Looks like a nice way to spend the morning when there’s fog and steam hanging over the water. That happens a lot this time of year, when the morning air is cooler than the water temperature.

Our last stop is in Marquette, with Philip Odum, in 2014 as he captures the morning sun putting a glow on the Marquette Lighthouse and the beach at McCarty Cove. With summer vacation coming to a close, beaches like this won’t be as crowded during the week.

With all the fishing in the archives, today, we may as well continue the pastime with Eric Haataja and friends in Copper Harbor. The weather was not ideal for going out in the boat, so they did some fishing off the dock instead, catching some good size splake!

Love that shot of McCarty's cove!

Nothing better than fishing with your friends and
family.

Sad to hear about Bill Haller's passing. The Copper Country has truly lost a great man!!

So relaxing to go fishing. Well, unless
you're not catching anything and then I
get frustrated lol.

Love the pictures and video. Anybody know
where they're fishing?

Thank god for Wikipedia. Had no idea what a splake was. But it did look like a trout and it was.
