Summer is winding down, with school to start here in the Keweenaw in just a few days. That prompted me to pick out pictures that represent the summer here UP North from the archives today. In 2007, Bob Gallun shared a wonderful shot of a wavy Lake Superior. There was some discussion the day this first appeared, as to where it was taken, with the conclusion being somewhere in Sedar Bay. That small white speck on the right near the land, is the Upper Entry Lighthouse near McLain Park.

We head out to Bete Grise for the next photo, snapped by Doug Smith in 2008. Early evening moonlight topping the pines. If that’s not a frame-able photo, I don’t know what is...or better yet have it made into a canvas and let Lake Superior moonlight “take you away” every day.

I’m sure those of you that are familiar with the town of Gay, knew where this photo was taken as soon as you saw it. The Gay smokestack is a giveaway every time for this location. What a special treat to have a double rainbow there nearby, too, back in 2011.

With moons and rainbows, here today, I searched for a video to accompany with something to do with sky beauty and came up with this dandy published by Mlive. Northern Lights traveling across the night sky over the Mackinac Bridge.

2014 is Bob and my brothers motorcycles parked at the Gay Bar. Bob is heading back UP to the U.P. after Labor day weekend.
