We’re talking a tour around the U.P., today, from south to west and back to the Keweenaw again. Beginning in 2006, we head to Crystal Falls and join Ray Laakaniemi at the Paint River Boardwalk. I’ve never been there in person, but it sure looks like a great place to explore. Maybe next time we’re driving through town, we’ll take some time to check it out.

Our next visit is on the western end of the U.P., in Ontonagon. Back in 2011, E. Neil Harri was flying high over the town, which gives you a great look at everything surrounding it. I’m especially impressed by the size of the river that goes through town to Lake Superior. Looking down from above like this, you see how wide and brown it is.

Wrapping up our little U.P. tour, we join Michelle Nelson back in 2016. She made a stop in Laurium to check out the Gipp Memorial Park there. You can tell by the care of this park, that "The Gipper" is a beloved native son that the Village of Laurium is proud of and wants to keep his memory alive so future generations will know who he is and what he did. It's an inspiring story for any young athlete living in the Keweenaw to hear about, so they know that even small town kids can make it big if they work hard.

Our video feature today, is taking us for a virtual tour along the Paint River Boardwalk in Crystal Falls. Enjoy the peace and quiet, with just the sounds of the river and a passing car now and then.

I've never been to the Paint River either
but I can see that it's a must visit kind
of place. But then, the UP is full of
those.

I do like the looks of that Paint River Bridge. One of the nicer bridges I have seen. I've not seen it in person either but intend to.

As I sit here in my La-Z-Boy® recliner perusing the latest posts in PastyLand, I'm having a sudden semi-uneasy feeling that I'm sitting in old Still Waters as I note that we have had a grand total of 14 unique contributors here in the last 8 days, and I am now contemplating some song titles:

"Where have all the flowers gone?"
"Where have all the cowboys gone?"
"Where have all the good guys gone?"
"Where have all the good men gone?"
"Where have all the good times gone?"
"Where have all the good men gone?"
"Where have all the children gone?"
"Where have all the people gone?"

"Where have all the (other) Pasty Folks gone?" 😧

Hopefully enjoying some vacation time, FR.

Today's excellent video reminds me of a song, as well:
"Living on the riverside taking it all in my stride
Living on the riverside, I'm taking life like a big long ride
You stay on your side and I'll stay on mine
You take what you want and I'll take the sunshine"
(America, Riverside)

Amen, FRNash. I wonder if part of it is
the lack of recent photos. I love the
reviews, but I could see them with current
pix also.

I'm having problems getting these to pay
with my phone so I'm hoping this isn't a
double posting.
