While looking through the archive photos for today, it struck me that there are certain things that remind me that it’s May now, like Fred Koski’s photo of a perfect Morel mushroom, shared in 2004. This is the time of year to start hunting for them.

That’s Great Sand Beach in the next photo, snapped by Joe Kirkish. The ice was all melted by this time in 2009, so all you see is that beautiful sandy beach. Over the past few years, that beach has completely changed and is mostly rocks now.

The last photo was also taken by Joe Kirkish, back in 2011. You can tell it was quite a breezy day, when the clothes hanging on the lines to dry, are stretched straight out like that. Nothing better than drying your bedsheets outdoors...the smell when crawling into bed is divine!

In case you’re thinking about hunting for Morel mushrooms, make sure you watch today’s video first, so you know how to tell the difference in a true Morel and a false one. The false ones are quite poisonous, to the point that you could die from eating them. Happy hunting!

Every time I see hanging laundry pictures I know they're by my old professor, Joe Kirkish.

My father in law would hunt Morels from time to time, and he would always end up throwing them away out of fear he'd made a mistake.

BTW, it would have been very difficult to play volley ball on such a blustery day. No surprise nobody's there.

But D.A., those blustery days make for warmer
water for swimming. The waves churn up the bottom
and the lake becomes very much swimmable. It's
what we live for when we're UP there.
Unfortunately, it's been at least 3 years since
we've been swimming in that lake. It's either
been cold when we've been there, or the wind was
coming from the wrong direction. I've spent many
hours swimming in Superior. I hope I will have
more opportunities. And you can just see that
laundry drying with all that wind.

Deb:

LOL, all the volley ballers ended the game to go swimming.

Now there's a tip I'll remember : "Don't breath that in or you'll die."

I saw a cute one on my phone yesterday. A person was holding up a sign that said "Whatever you're doing, give 100%!" The person behind that one also carried a sign that said, "But not if you're donating blood!" :o) I guess I would agree!
