The archive of photos from the past 20 years on the Pasty Cam today, reveals that Spring comes whenever it feels like it here UP North. Some years it has already begun the melt, like in the 2007 photo snapped by Karl Berg. He was on the shores of Lake Superior and captured an ice slide suspended over the edge of the sandstone, just waiting for the sunshine to heat things up a bit more before it dives into the Big Lake.

Other years it still looks like the dead of winter, like the shot from Kathleen Niemi Vettori, taken in 2014 of their camp out at Misery Bay. It doesnít look like theyíll be parking in the driveway there any time soon. It would be interesting to find out when they were able to drive right up to the camp that year.

In 2015, Beth Jukuri snapped a photo from an early morning walk with her dogs. The sun was just rising, lighting up the banks of the Sturgeon River. Her photo combines both the melt of the river, with the snow covered banks shrinking too. Itís a quiet and peaceful scene, such a great way to start the day.

Our video melting was recorded back in March of 2012 and it shows the Ontonagon River ice on the move. This location on the river is about a mile from where it empties into Lake Superior, depositing all that ice and anything itís taken down, like trees, in the process of flowing into the Big Lake.

Pleasant pix and cool's like the UP is shedding it's skin.

That first picture is quite something.

I love to watch videos of ice melting.

Happy Hump Day!

The first picture looks like Mother Nature's version of a metal roof. That is a neat picture.
The site of the second photo has a perfect name, judging by the looks of the picture.
