Today’s archive shots and the current one, show how folks have waited for winter to transition into spring throughout the years on the Pasty Cam. We start with a Shoebox Memory that first appeared in 2005, shared by Julie Beck. Charlie noted back then, that the snow was making way for spring here in the Copper Country, as we remembered the winter of '64, when the Polaris Sno-Traveler was the hottest trend on the trails. That’s Julie’s mom and sisters (Jean, Jill, and Joni) striking an elegant pose with all that horsepower and some stylish hats and sunglasses, too.

Our next group waiting for spring, were actually “thinking summer” back in 2007. These Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary kiddos were part of a fun day that their Hot Lunch Program celebrates each year, called “Summer Day”. Gail Deiro, (the head lunch lady), said the kids and adults alike are encouraged to dress for summer with sunglasses and hats. Lunch is a list of summer foods, including hot dogs, watermelon and ants on a log and the atmosphere is completed with summer music playing during the lunch period.

Another Shoebox Memory is our third photo, which first appeared in 2011. The photo from the middle of last century depicts Matt Laity who worked the Warehouse, hauling supplies for the Eagle River Fuse Factory. Winter, spring, no matter the weather, the supplies still had to be transported from the warehouse to the factory. Photo courtesy of the MTU Archives.

Check out the Fat Tire Bikers from the Brockway Mountain Challenge held on March 17th. Da Brudders Adventures were there on hand to snap some photos and make some video of the event, too. The Challenge started at the Lake Bailey Boat Launch, went up and over Brockway Mountain, ending at M26 and Brockway Mountain Drive across the road from the Copper Harbor Marina.

Lake Superior attracts explorers in all seasons. Today’s video looks at the Lake in a way we’ve never experienced... riding those Fat Tire bikes. A snowy cruise along this waning wintry landscape. Can Spring be far behind?

I recently saw a special on fat tire biking and this works very well on snow covered trails, so long as it's not too deep.

Seeing one of those old snocats brings back
memories. Loved the video. I wouldn't have the
stamina but it sure looks great to be able to just
watch the world go by. And what a view while
doing it!

Nice pic's and video, do you think they enjoy a "Fat Tire Beer" at the end of the trail?

You're a card, Uncle Chuck.
