As long as I can remember, there hasn't ever been a completely green Christmas here in the Keweenaw. There have been some years that it came close or that we didn't have much on the ground at all, but for the most part, we always get a white Christmas. The archive of Pasty Cam photos shows that pretty well. Back in 2003, David Antikainen snapped a snowy shot of the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. What a beautiful scene this is. It would be a perfect Christmas card photo.

Take a look at Robert C. Wetton's (RIP RCW) 2006 photo of the "Peace on Earth doors" that graced the wall as you come off the Lift Bridge, heading into Hancock. That's a perfect message for this time of year and actually all year round. Of particular interest in this photo is the lack of snow. Never fear, though…a snowfall of 7 to 9 inches was expected that evening.

The photo from 2010, taken by Robert Halonen is more typical of the white Christmas we enjoy here UP North. That's a gazebo in Presque Isle Park in Marquette, with a tree all decorated for the season.

In a follow-up to Sunday's video on this years official State Christmas tree from the U.P, today's clip shows what happens when it reaches Lansing.

Down here in Northern Illinois I just heard the climate average has been a green Christmas only 1 in 7 times. Looks like this year will be an outlier although presently there an 80% chance of flurries Christmas morning.

Alex,
Went to Dr. and I tested negative for the flu. Test only takes 10 minutes. Dr. said it was a stomach virus. Still feeling a bit punk but it looks like I won't be contagious for the holiday.J

All the snow in SE-MI has melted, as well. I'm not complaining, because dry ground is always a blessing these days.
That's good news, D.A., I began sniffling and sneezing the day after your post and I've been wearing a hoodie ever since. I should be OK by Xmas.

I like the Eagle Harbor light. I think it looks pretty neat.
That is quite an operation to put a Christmas tree up the size of that one. They have it down pat.
