Today's theme in the archives is one that many folks are in the process of right now, too, decorating for the Christmas season that is quickly approaching. Back in 1999, the Pasty Cam caught two gentlemen on the Stone Boat in Kearsarge as they were "hoisting" the Christmas colors just above the machine gun on board. Rumor was that they were Toivo and Eino.

The 2008 archive shot, looks to be more about the wintry weather in Lake Linden with the School crossing guard and signs standing out against the whiteness, but if you look closely on the light poles, you'll see the town's decorations are up for the season, too.

Of today's archive photos, the third one taken by Ben Musielak back in 2010, is my favorite. Ben lives on the shores of Lake Superior and gets to enjoy watching the boats sail on by, so this time of year, he decorates for the passing freighters, too. Seven years later, though, I'm still wondering how he lit up those trees sitting right there in the Big Lake.

Neat song. Cute but at the same time a bit insulting to the Yoop as it
says "Land of the hand" and doesn't mention God's Country. ;-) But I
guess we can forgive the guy. He can't fit everything into one little
song.

Love the 2008 picture of one of my very favorite
towns. Was almost there that day as my dad passed
away 2 days from now on the 9th in 2008. Hard to
believe it's nearly 9 years. My heart still
hurts.

Also, I'm posting this on the 7th so I want to
wish my Grandma N a happy birthday in heaven. I
know she's watching over all of us as family was
everything to her.
