Today's archive theme has a bit of snow in it, even though there have been years without any on this date, too. Other than snow, there is no common thread just a mixture of U.P. places and things. We start back in 2003 with a drive along US-41 on the way to or from Copper Harbor with Sharon Smith. It's that time of year to adjust for winter driving and icy conditions.

The next shot was snapped by Paul Roberts in 2007, when he was driving through Paulding and spotted a relic called a phone booth. You can still see a few of them when you're driving through Mason, too, but I'm not too sure they're functioning phone booths anymore. Even so, they sure look neat lit up as if they are.

Our third archive photo appeared back in 2014, when Henry Sakari was visiting his neighbor, where this rooster was crowing away. Henry said he was acting like he was really disturbed with the snow. He kept lifting his feet up and down, crowing and looking at the snow.

Today's video feature takes us to a Michigan Hobby Farm with a look at the critters and how they're adapting to the snow around their farm. They seem to be just fine with the white stuff on the ground, as long as they have food and water. Enjoy the barnyard visit!

There used to be phone booth just like that one, in Shingleton, MI (corner of M28 / M94) years ago.
That duck obviously wants to be a chicken, so it asked the hens; "What does a cock-a-doodle do?"

Give to one, if you can, and it will help that organization you choose to donate to.
You can also send in a check and in the memo, put the name of the organization of your choosing. I already mailed mine in. Mail it to:

Paulding? I don't think so. I tend to agree with Mrbill3oaks in Cam Notes back on (click →) Tuesday, November 20, 2007 - 06:22 am about the location of that old phone booth (I recognized it instantly way back in 2007):

"That phone booth is outside of Settler's Co-op in Bruce Crossing. I have used several times over the years while in the area hunting. Wish I was there now.

I have just spent a few hours searching the Pasty archives for further evidence to support that claim — another drive-by photo of the corner of the old Co-op store in Bruce Crossing that I was sure I'd seen, but to no avail. But lo and behold¹ , interestingly enough Google Maps Street view still shows that corner today (captured by the Google Streets cam in 2009):

Co-op Phone Booth

P.S.: Incidentally, it was a pleasant three hour tour thru yesteryear in Pastyland. There was so much more interaction and many more enjoyable conversations among Past peeps back then; where did that all go?

(¹ "lo and behold" ← yes, that is spelled correctly, see Wictionary!)

Alas, time marches on.
The phone booth has disappeared since 2009.
This Google Maps view is from 2015.
Gasoline price DID come down a penny though.

Bruce Crossing.... I'll sure sleep better knowing that!!

Thanks Mary for doing this everyday, for all our enjoyment!! I bet Paulding had a phone booth somewhere in that town back then!! :=)

FRNash, you at least are keeping the original spirit alive....and it is interesting now to have the archives!

Since my daughter added a flock of chickens to her family a few
years ago, I have become a fan of chickens. Alex's comment gave
me a chuckle first thing this morning.
