In case you haven't noticed, the archive this time of year is filled with colorful leaves, so if you get the feeling of "déjà vu", that's why. Today is a repeat of the fall colors that have appeared over the past 19 years on this date. The first year we're looking back at is 2000, when Alex Protzel made the drive to Copper Harbor along US41 and snapped a photo of the color that guided him along the way.

Ten years later, in 2010, Laurie Bashaw was doing a color tour around the Marquette area and captured the colors along County Road 510. That year sure produced some awe inspiring photos, the second one here today being one of the better ones to show off the colors.

Lindsay White grabbed a photo of her son and friends back in 2012, who were up a tree with a background of brilliantly colored leaves. The color changes from green to bright yellows, reds and oranges is amazing and happens quite quickly some years. My only complaint it that I wish the color season lasted longer.

Today we have an educational video for those of you that aren't quite sure what makes the leaves change color in the fall here UP North. Watch and listen so you're in the know!

Wow, it sure would be nice to see that again in person...thank goodness for Pasty Central. The local news last night said MI fall colors are about a week behind schedule due to the recent warmer temps.

Depends where you are. Some places color is peak, you can drive 5 miles down the road and everything is still about 90% green. Strange color season this year.

Hoping the color is on full display next week!! Now that my good friend Marty is retired, we'll be headed Keweenaw bound next Wednesday to "Blow the Stink Off" (as Grampa Norm would always say, lol) for a few days!!

Don't know if the boss will let me take her new F150 on this trip, she has informed me that she does not want any U.P. pin stripes on it!! That's no fun!! Regardless, we're looking forward to getting away!

Nice review & video as always!! Have a great weekend Pasty Family!!

UC...tell The Boss that UP pinstripes are scares of honor and de-stink-tion. :-)

Hi
I've seen less color right by the shore of a Great Lake; I think I recall the explanation being that they create a warmer zone in the colder months.

And of course different types of trees have their own schedules. Oaks are some of the last to leaf out in the spring and are among the last to do leaf drop in the fall.

Whatever is going on, I hope the color is good next weekend, as that's when I was planning to go up north for the color tour.

Hi
By the way, check out the October 5 2012 pasty cam post. I have the picture titled "Worth the Trip" as my wallpaper. Not only is it gorgeous, I have the illusion of looking out a window at the scene.

Enjoy your trip UC! You deserve it!

UC, You should be in luck, especially towards the end of next week. Although I think when things turn it will be fast and not last long.

My disappointment in the Keweenaw colors sent me on a U.P. Waterfall tour, which sent me down M28 from Baraga to Wakefield/Bessemer which showered me with all kinds of peak color. The Porkies are only slightly ahead of the Keweenaw but just 10 to 20 miles further south of the Porkies was a real treat.

I think I visited 8 new waterfalls plus Mt. Arvon, the mouth of the Huron River and Point Abbaye. New Pasty Cam Album to follow soon.

The color in these pictures is magnificent!!!
Autumn in the U.P. is so beautiful. We just don't
get the vibrant colors here in MN that you get UP
there. Thanks for showing us the UP in all of its
glory!
