The archives from the past 19 years are filled with visits to innumerable interesting places here UP North, places that both locals and tourists enjoy visiting while on summer vacation. Today we look at a few of those spots as summer is quickly coming to an end. In 2004, W.R. Maki took us to the shores of Lake Superior for a look at the Point Iroquois Lighthouse, part of the Hiawatha National Forest, that stands watch where Lake Superior joins with the St. Mary's River and the Soo Locks.

Then in 2006, Joyce Tormala brought us to the Big Lake also, but this visit to Superior was all about fun as these brave folks face the crashing waves she is famous for stirring up during windy days. Looks quite daring, but I'll stay on shore with Joyce, thank you!

Our last visit today, takes us to the tip of the Keweenaw in Copper Harbor with Art Brabbs Back in 2008 he made a visit to Fort Wilkins during the Battery D reenactment of the Civil War days there. Firing the cannons is of course the highlight for actors and visitors alike.

Since we're already stopped at Fort Wilkins, a video showing what happens during the reenactment weekend is in order. This glimpse of the event was made by Steve Brimm two years ago, in 2015. Step back in time at Copper Harbor.

These pix are a refreshing sight after watching the devastation in Houston over the weekend. As I mentioned yesterday, thoughts a prayers go out to Dr. Nat and Capt. Paul.

Love LOVE the 2006 picture. The best time to swim
in that lake is when the waves are like that,
stirring up the bottom. It becomes much warmer.
