Weather here UP North is always unpredictable and today's look back in the archives shows a few good examples of that. Starting back in 2002, Rob Wetton snapped a shot of what it's like driving through a heavy downpour of rain that floods the streets. Summertime heat often brings on some heavy rainfall.

Then the other extreme, is perfect beach weather, like Skylar Baxter photographed at Misery Bay back in 2006. Looks warm enough for a refreshing jump in Lake Superior. Takes the heat of the sun down a few notches when you do, that's for sure!

The following year, in 2007, Paul Roberts, who is an amateur storm chaser, captured this amazing shot of a storm front over Lake Superior. Often times, storms like this roll out as fast as they roll in, dousing everything in rain and dropping the temperatures down a few notches for a while.

Back in 2014, there was a dandy storm that had high waves out on the Big Lake and splashing over the rock walls at the entrance to Presque Isle Park in Marquette. Today's video shows the waves and rain, along with the storm watchers that come out to see the fury of Lake Superior.

Nice pix and I like the car wash video...Yooper style!

They have done so much to protect that road to Presque Isle over the years but when Superior is rollin' there isn't much they can do to stop the waves from breaking over the road! As long as no one gets hurt and the road isn't washed out, it's fun to watch!

Mary or Charlie, a question: where is the camera located that's called the Portage Upper Entry? It appears to be quite far away from upper entry. Thanks!

It is on a tower on Dextrom Road overlooking Cedar Bay to Calumet Waterworks to McLain, and that is Upper Entry in the distance.

Watch the evening news:
Government by law, almost by definition, precludes common sense, since only individuals have common sense

Great pictures and loved the video! The first
picture reminds me of our trip to St. Ignace about
10 years ago as we were driving through Escanaba.
The water was at least midway up car's tires. We
were literally driving through close to a foot of
rain. Gotta love Mother Nature!
