It's a critter kind of day here in the Pasty Cam archives, as there were a number of them shared this day. First on the list is a shot from Robert C. Wetton, back in 2004. This duckling family was swimming around by his cottage out in Bootjack. Looks like they stopped just long enough for RCW to snap a photo.

Next up is a photo shared by E. Neil Harri on this day in 2010. His niece, Danise Jarvey sent him the photo of her daughter, Julie, who at the time was a senior at Michigan Tech, majoring in Wildlife Ecology and Management. For the summer she was working on a Predator/Prey study in Menominee County and they had just collared the two fawns in the photo with Julie. What a neat summer job to get up close with these beautiful animals.

The third archive shot was shared in 2012, by Mike Schneider over at Superior Seasons Photography. He captured this frog checking him out, right across the road from the beach at Sand Point Road in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There is a Marsh Walk located there that takes you through the marsh to check out frogs, turtles and more.

Then just last week, Brenda Leigh made a visit to Oswald's Bear Ranch located near Newberry. She had a number of photos from her time there, but this one caught my eye, because the bear looks like he's trying to hide behind the clump of trees. It's probably just scratching an itchy back, but it still struck me as funny.

Keeping in the critter theme, the video feature for today visits another U.P. animal ranch, located in St. Ignace and called Deer Ranch. The video was made in 2011, so things may look different if you visit there now. Fun times getting close to critters.

Always love looking at critters. Would love to be
up close and personal with those adorable fawns.
And the bear scratching his back brings a smile to
my face. Thanks!

Interesting video and pix!
What did that frog say to the bear with the itchy back? "Rubbit...Rubbit...Rubbit."

FANTABULOUS!!!! but you really don't want to feed
deer without a fence...they do get a tad upset when
one is feeding and there's not alot of feed....then
they get up in the air and start to pound each
other with those sharp lil hooves! If one of them
hit ya...you would definitely know it! love it all~

Go to Oswald's Bear Ranch~~!!!

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Thursday, July 13, 2017 - 10:50 pm:

Thanks all, he'll be a year old end of August. He's a mix of Jack Russell and Chihuahua our vet thinks, he'll be a small dog. He has really helped fill the void of missing Rocco.
