Looking back into the past 19 years of Pasty Cam photos, a recurring theme for this time of year is the unpredictable weather we get during the spring season in the Upper Peninsula. It varies from beautiful sunshine and sunsets, to rain, wind and snow storms. We revisit some of the crazy weather throughout the years, starting with a photo snapped by Dan Urbanski, in 2002. He spotted these three waiting for the school bus as the rain was pelting them. It later turned to snow here in the Copper Country that day.

Jump ahead to 2012 and a quite different looking scene that Melanie Hakala Rossi shared. She snapped the lush green field and dandelions in the Bruce Crossing area. I bet the bees were happy that year!

Two years later, in 2014, Brenda Leigh captured the third shot of her hubby standing next to a pile of good size ice still hugging Lake Superior's shoreline in Brimley. The cold and ice just doesn't give up, some years.

Thankfully, this year isn't one of those years, although we've still had some cold temps, at least the ice and snow is gone as you can see in Brenda's recent photo of the Brimley Lake Superior shoreline at sunset. This shot was taken in just about the same spot as the one she snapped in 2014. Quite a stark difference.

This spring has been a roller coaster of weather here UP North, with sunshine, snow, ice, rain and high winds, sometimes all in the same week. Today's video is the TV6 report of the aftermath of tornado-like winds (actually called straight-line winds) that hit Ishpeming recently. Hold on to your hats!

I love the spring storm. I think most people are
ready for a good spring storm after a long winter.
The dandelions remind me what we were doing this
past weekend. We picked enough dandelions out of
our yard for about 10 pints of jelly. And it's so
very good. Hard to believe there could be that much
ice left on Lake Superior in May month. But one
forgets it doesn't warm up very fast around the
lake. And sunset pictures are always beautiful!

I love the spring storm pic! A spring storm is fun
-as long as we have sun soon after!

All I see in the field is acres of dandelion wine and salad.
I wonder if dandelion honey is bitter?

Nice trip along memory lane.

Looks like they needed a bigger umbrella so they could keep 'Spot' dry too!

I miss Dan Urbanski's photos. He was a remarkable
artist.
