Today we have a new-comer to the Pasty Cam, Brad DeForge, along with his new drone which is equipped with a camera, too. We're riding along on his drone, so to speak, while he flies it around the town of L'Anse on Keweenaw Bay.

From Brad's first photo, it doesn't look like Keweenaw Bay is frozen over there near L'Anse yet. Some ice has formed, but not very far out and not looking like it would be very thick either, correct me if I'm wrong.

Next we head over the downtown area, with the marina off to the left in the photo, along with the playground on the waterfront. Looks like plenty of activity around town this day, with cars and trucks parked around the various businesses there below.

It's always neat to get the perspective of an area from up above like this and fun to see if you were in the photo the day the flyover took place. So if you were in the L'Anse area in the last few days, look a bit closer and see if you can at least spot your vehicle!

Nice pix and area! I used to stay directly across the bay at the Lakeside Inn - Baraga.

Always enjoy the drone pictures! Thanks for the tour of L'Anse!

Thank you for the overview. I too enjoy the pictures taken from drones. I don't dream often but last night I dreamt that I bought a drone. I must want one.

We were surprised to see the lighthouse in the 2nd picture and enjoyed reading about the Indian Country Sports Lighthouse, which was built privately in 1995: http://www.lighthouseinn-ct.com/lighthouses-by-state/michigan-lighthouses/indian-country-sports-lighthouse-lanse.html

I'm with you Duane, i'd like to buy a drone too! Will have to read up on them since there are so many options. For instance, can you see what the drone is seeing while piloting it on the ground?

Alex, we checked out the Baraga Lakeside Inn but couldn't tell much from the website about their handicapped rooms. Looks like a very nice hotel and restaurant!

After Heikenpäivä last week, I was on my way back to Cornell Sunday morning and going around the bay 'tween L'Anse and Baraga, the water was open all the way to the Red Rocks. Hardly any ice at all.

I love aerial pics and really enjoyed each of
these. You get such a different perspective of the
village of L'Anse.
