Here UP North, it's definitely winter again! Sharon Bodenus gives us a neat perspective of the snow in her back yard near Gwinn. As you can see, the snow is covering everything now and piling up on anything that doesn't move.

I especially like the snowy fence shot and the two leaves almost buried in the snow. They both represent winter here in the U.P. so well, showing that we do get dumped upon and buried in the white gold at times, but we just patiently clear it out where we need to and go on with our day. Some would say it's part of the magic of living here UP North, others might have something different to say about it, but whichever side of the fence you're on, it sure makes for pretty scenes to photograph.

It was a snowy weekend for most folks in the Midwest. Here we go on a wild ride to April!!

Thanks Sharon!

Yep...10" fell in Troy, MI area.

By Daveofmohawk (Daveofmohawk) on Monday, December 12, 2016 - 11:41 am:

jbuck and Alex: 20 to 30 mph wind and snow and below zero temps forecast for the next three days here in the Keweenaw. I've been having dreams of palm trees and gentle ocean breezes.

Daveofmohawk...I've been having the same dream. Was Jimmy Buffett there?

Nice snowy pictures, even though I am not particularly fond of the stuff. I like the pictures of the forlorn and freezing winter leaves. With apologies to Joyce Kilmer

I think that I shall never know
A thing as ugly as the snow.

I see it swirl, I hear it say
Get used to me, I'm here to stay.

God makes birds and trees I know
I think the Devil makes the snow.

Beautiful Duane. My sentiments exactly. I
got my lifetime allotment of cross country
skiing and winter wonderland as a young
man in the Keweenaw. Not sure if it's poor
circulation or just age (err... make that
wisdom) setting in, but I'm perfectly
content living vicariously through
Pastycam these days.

Winter weather can be so artistic.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 - 05:49 am:

Sharon's photographs are truly beautiful. I expect there will be
plenty of the white stuff on the ground when we go UP for
Christmas with our daughter and her family. Thanks for the
foretaste.

By Ken ja Mimi from da UP (Kenjamimi) on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 - 02:03 pm:

Hei Alex UP-Goldwinger, would that be Jimmy Buffet singing CHRISTMAS ISLAND? Mimi loved that song.

By Uncle Chuck (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 - 04:13 pm:

Nice pix, the first one is my fav!

Alex/Ken, No, the Jimmy Buffet song would be, "Boat Drinks".....

"I gotta to fly to Saint Somewhere
I'm close to bodily harm
20 degrees and the hockey game's on
Nobody cares they are way too far gone
Screamin' boat drinks, something to keep'em all warm.
This morning, I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I got cabin fever
Somebody sound the alarm!! "

LOL, and it's only December!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 - 08:26 am:

I'm not a fan of the snow either, but it does make
for some beautiful pictures. And the temps are so
frigid here, I wish we'd get more snow and maybe
warm it up a bit. 40 below wind chills by the
weekend. We WERE going to Duluth for the lights of
Bentleyville, but no way am I walking outside in
temps that much below zero.
