When I saw today's top photo from Taana Kalliainen, it brought an immediate smile to my face, since it looks like that sunflower is grinning away, too. I asked Taana about the photo and she said she snapped this one day last week on her walk at lunch time and had been waiting for some time to come across a sunflower to stage this photo. She said it was the perfect opportunity with the Lift Bridge in the background. So, do like Taana says and, "Be as happy as a sunflower in shades!"

The second photo was taken by Amy Machiela in her sunflower patch out in Bootjack, bordered by some darker clouds. Doesn't it look like the cloud is frowning? But even with the dark skies, Amy's sunflowers are standing tall and turned waiting for the sun to reappear.

Amy's husband, Dave Moyle snapped the bottom photo of Amy standing by the sunflowers in their garden. Now Amy is average height, so I'm guessing those flowers must be over 10 feet tall! Someone asked if she used "steroids" to grow them so big, to which Amy replied, "Ha! Nope. Not even fertilizer. All organic. For real!" Her sister Janelle called her a Master Gardner and I'd have to agree.

What nice pictures to wake up to. The first
picture brought a smile to my face also. So cute.
My favorite picture is the 2nd one. That is
awesome! Those flowers sure do get tall. I just
get small ones in my flower beds from birds
dropping the sunflower seeds. But the birds eat
the seeds out of them even when they're small.
Thanks for sharing these.

The future's so bright, it's gotta wear shades. Very nice set of pix!

You'll be fine as long as one doesn't start saying "Feed me, Seymour!!".....

Oh Alex, that was the theme the bosses used when Bell Atlantic bought out GTE to create Verizon. They even gave us all sunglasses. But the future was only bright for the BA employees!

So amazing how tall sunflowers can grow.
