Joy Ziemnick sent in today's photos along with a description of their day capturing them. It goes as follows:

"Jim and I went roaming around outdoors today and we checked out Conglomerate Falls. These young fishermen were having a great time on a beautiful, but chilly day and also caught some fish (we saw 2 big ones they had already caught, but didn't get pictures of them). The little guy had one on his line which he fought to land for quite a few minutes, it even made him wade downstream a ways before he reeled it in. I asked their dad if it was alright to take their pictures and also maybe submit to Pasty and he said sure, so here you go…a good opening day report!"

There you have it folks. The fishing was good for these young guys and isn't it great to see them out enjoying the Keweenaw like that, in the sunshine, breathing that fresh air.

I'm going to leave the directions for finding Conglomerate Falls to someone else, as I'm not real clear where this location is, except that the address says Allouez. Hopefully someone will chime in with how to get there, so you can do some fishing of your own!

Way to go fellas. Congratulations on the success. Looks like a real nice place to fish. When you trade in the spinning rods for fly rods fishing becomes ten times more fun!!

Very nice, reminds me of "A River Runs Through It".

And would ya look at those traps...that woman could star in my new exercise video, "Power Lifting Pike", coming soon to a store near you.

The Northwoods Conservancy owns a large tract of land along the Gratiot River that includes about 275 acres, a small solar powered cabin for rent, and close to 7,000' of river frontage, mostly for fishing access. I have fished that part of the Gratiot years ago and can attest to the great, but challenging, fishing on that stretch. I've included the website that explains the tract and the rules for using it below.

Oh man, what great pictures!! It's so much fun
fishing those rivers UP there. Back in the day
before everything was so grown in and you could go
about anywhere, it was such fun to go fishing. It's
more difficult now unless you live right on the
river, but we can enjoy it through these pictures.
Thanks!!

Fantastic Pix!!! Nothing like being in the woods, all they need is a cast iron skillet, campfire and a few sleeping bags & tent, Way to go Men!! I'm jealous!
