Tuesday morning here in the Copper Country started out in the single digits for temperatures…brrrr! Mother Nature was busy out in the freezing cold, creating some frosty beauty and Chad Johnson braved the frigid air to snap a few pictures of the icy coatings covering all the branches in the morning sun.

Chad said it was difficult to photograph the hoar frost because the air was so cold that his fingers wouldn't work on the camera settings and his screen and viewfinder kept fogging up. While he snapped quite a few photos, he said many of them didn't turn out or weren't good quality, focused shots, which was quite frustrating for him. You sure can't tell by the photos he shared here today, though, these shots turned out great, showing the detail of the clinging hoar frost and how thickly it coats everything in sight!

I can commiserate with Chad! When I'm out during the All-Nighter shooting photos, I have to occasionally duck into a building for a couple minutes to warm up the equipment and the fingers. One thing to always keep in mind is that even the professionals shoot hundreds of photos to get "The One!", so I wouldn't be frustrated with the poor shots; rather, you can use them to learn which is what I often do.

The photos presented here are great!! ;-)

Beautiful shots and i echo what the Capt said! We used to shoot several rolls of a subject, and the $$$ added up quickly, even when we were doing the processing in our own darkroom. Digital makes that part much cheaper!

The photos today are breathtakingly beautiful. I
enjoyed each one!

The frosted branches are spectacular. My husband and I were in the
southern states and Lower Michigan for the past couple of days.
What a change in temperature.

Absolutely exquisite photos Chad! And I echo Chad, & Capt. Paul too. I froze many a finger and had fogging issues too. A lesson in patience in freezing weather, but kudos to you for your patience to get some winners, Chad - Very Nice!!!

Beautiful + lovely.

Very artistic and kinda reminds me of my ears, just before they get weed-wacked.
Looks like Spring finally arrives next week.

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone!

What cool pictures those are. I'm happy to say that
we haven't had any snow on the ground for weeks now.
We've had a dusting here and there, but nothing that
stuck around. Waiting impatiently to plant some
flowers.
