Northern Light photos from the Copper Country…does it get any better than this? I don't think much better and that's why I'm always happy when Jeremy Rowe, photographer and owner at Keweenaw Night Sky Photography, forgoes his usual bedtime for a venture outdoors in the dark to capture the night lights for us all to enjoy.

These four shots were taken several days ago and here's what Jeremy said about them:

"Just as I was going to head to bed, I noticed a little glow in the night sky. It wasn't the best show, but it was a still, warm night and it sure felt great to get some lights. My dog even stood still enough for a picture.
The snow that remains on the ground, sure brightens up the landscape in the photos and the shadows which are somewhat hiding Jeremy's four-legged friend in the third photo really make that one interesting.

I hope it does!

I have seen that kind of a display way back in the mid 1950s on an early evening hike up toward the north end of Larson Road in Bruce Crossing.

Not just off in the distance, but directly overhead and reaching up to the zenith.

I'll never forget that. There were huge arcs weaving to and fro and rippling like multi-colored (violet/blue/green/yellow/red) pleated grand drapes/front theater curtains in a gentle breeze.

The Calumet Opera House? The Royal Opera House in London? The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow? None of them could even approach that scene!

Great pictures of the Northern Lights. Thanks for sharing them and delaying bedtime to do so.
Of all the sights
The Northern Lights
are near the top of the list.
Over Pink Glowing Toads,
The Colossus of Rhodes
And castles in the mist.

Excellent work!
And a very nice, classic UP review.
