• Veteran's Day-What'sUP November 12 - 04:15 am

Today we honor the men and women who have fought for our freedoms and those still presently serving to keep our country free. Veterans Day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I. In other parts of the world this day is called Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, both of which also mark the end of WWI. On this date in 1918, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect, ending "the war to end all wars".

Please remember to thank a Veteran today especially, but also when you see them any day of the year. It is because of their service to our country, that we live here in America with the freedoms we do. Show your pride and thanks by flying your flag proudly, as in this first photo here today, from Donna MacIntosh.

The flag represents our American colors and the second photo from Kathy Archambeau represents our Keweenaw color, which even though the autumn leaves have all but disappeared, there are still those that hang tight to branches, showing their strength and tenacity. Kind of like our Veterans and their willingness to serve and sacrifice because of their love of our country.
We here at Pasty Central salute all of our Veterans and thank you with our utmost respect.
