Bob Gilreath was out one evening this week to capture a magnificent sunset, followed by a night of brilliant auroras. The beauty our Keweenaw skies hold is absolutely amazing and breathtaking day in and day out. We are truly blessed to live in such stunning surroundings.

The stars in Bob's photos really stand out among the lights of the Aurora, it's one of the things I really like about these shots. If you look closely at the third photo, you'll see a dotted line near the top of it. Bob said that's the flashing light of a plane flying overhead. Pretty neat!

I thought these photos today, would be a great way to honor the people who lost their lives 14 years ago in the 9/11 attacks on our nation. We look to the skies of the Copper Country, we pause and we remember that tragic day.

Beautiful photos, Bob!
Thank you, Mary, for choosing these outstanding pictures in memory of that tragic day 14 years ago that none of us should ever forget. May God keep our country safe.

911, I will always remember that day like it was yesterday. I still remember what I was doing when the news came over the car radio. So tragic for so many. May God Bless us All with Peace & Courage

Outstanding pictures today. Love those Northern Lights. Two events that occurred in my lifetime that I will always remember where I was when they happened. One is the 9/11 attack and the other is the assassination of John Kennedy.

God Bless America! May all the victims of 9/11
Rest in Peace! You are not forgotten.

Breathtaking is right. The heavens are always telling the glory of
God. Some days we see that glory for the gift it is. Today is a day
we especially need to see it. Thank you for recording it for us, Bob.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, September 11, 2015 - 07:44 pm:

Very sweetly and wonderfully put, Kosk!

I am glad you told use about the plane lights I figured it might be geese on a night flight and those where their tail lights. Well I should know better as it did not form a V. Then again maybe they travel in a line at night so they can follow each others tail lights?

By Greta Jones (Urbanescapees) on Saturday, September 12, 2015 - 01:22 pm:

Very nice pictures to commemorate the anniversary of that tragic day. Indeed, our world has quickly changed. May God bless, protect and keep America safe.
Bob, your northern lights photos are excellent!!
