Today's first photo is pretty in itself, just for the color of the pansy, but I really love it because the flower is shaped like a heart, making it unique. That's something that Donna MacIntosh and her camera seem to be quite good at, finding the unique beauty that surrounds us here in the U.P.

The remaining three photos are of her sunflowers and one of the many butterflies that visit them for nourishment. Donna thinks perhaps this butterfly is a White Admiral, but a faded one. I'm wondering if butterflies fade from their bright color as they age and are nearing the end of their life cycle. Any butterfly experts out there that can educate us on this?

Those photos are spectacular!!!!! Enjoy them
while we can.

The sunflowers that grow here, are what's dropped by
squirrels and deer during winter...and as they
progress and drop leaves/turn into seed heads, I'll
put them on the feeder poles, and they are picked
clean in a day...AMAZING. I had a couple with a few
seeds left in them, and I moved them so I could put
the "full" ones on the poles, and they were gone this
morning. I'm thinking a raccoon came and grabbed them
and ran off with them. :D

Two of my favorite flowers ~ panies and sunflowers. These are beautiful, Donna!

Very nice pictures. That is one huge sunflower. You can't put a bouquet of those in a vase, you have to put them in a milk pail.

Wonderful, especially the butterflies.
