Barb Bouwkamp's husband Tom was out on a foggy morning kayaking as the sun came up over Big Traverse, while Barb and Parker, their four-legged friend waited and watched for Tom's return to shore. What a great way to start the day, either from inside the kayak or even back on shore. With the shroud from the fog, it makes the sun coming UP look somewhat mysterious, too.

That second photo of Parker patiently waiting is the perfect example of a faithful companion. He didn't want to be out there swimming and chance rocking the boat, but still needed to keep an eye on his person and happily greet him when he got back to shore.

Barb's last photo was from a different day/different place. She spotted these geese all lined up and swimming along on Lake Gerald at Twin Lakes. I always knew that geese fly in formation, but didn't have a clue that they swim in a formation, too!

LOVE the first picture, peaceful and quiet with your buddy waiting for you.

Looks like a quiet and peaceful way to spend a morning. Kayaks, umiaks and canoes are not my mode of choice for travel these days. In the last century they held a little more charm. Our feathered friends that travel are starting to gather together for their fall departure to warmer parts. That proves to me that geese aren't as silly as folks think.

How fitting that there's a picture of a very loyal
dog on National Dog Day. You just have to love
how they just sit there and wait. However, I have
cats who do the same thing.

That first picture is amazing. I just love it.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos with us.
