Bill
Lehtinen pauses near Lost Lake on Oct. 11, 1998,
shortly before the planting of brook trout in the
lake. Lehtinen, a board member of the Copper Country
Chapter of Trout Unlimited, first thought of the
project, a partnership between CCCTU and the
Michigan Department of Natural Resources. DNR staff
surveyed the lake and found it had the right
conditions for trout ’Äì cold water and sufficient
oxygen.

CCCTU President Ray Weglarz fights a Lost Lake
"speckie" on May 28, 2001. Said Deephouse,
"Ray Weglarz was the driving force behind the
founding of the Copper Country Chapter of Trout
Unlimited." The chapter was formed in February,
1998. Weglarz served as president for its first
three years.
