More photos of Lost Lake ...

Bill Lehtinen, left, and Dennis Johnson of Copper Country Trout Unlimited enjoy a  view of Lost Lake, well named for its location ’Äì hidden among the lush fall colors of the Keweenaw Tip area. (Oct. 11, 1998, photo by Bill Deephouse)

Bill Lehtinen pauses near Lost Lake on Oct. 11, 1998, shortly before the planting of brook trout in the lake. Lehtinen, a board member of the Copper Country Chapter of Trout Unlimited, first thought of the project, a partnership between CCCTU and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. DNR staff surveyed the lake and found it had the right conditions for trout ’Äì cold water and sufficient oxygen.

Former CCCTU President Ray Weglarz fights a Lost Lake "speckie" on May 28, 2001. Said Deephouse, "Ray Weglarz was the driving force behind the founding of the Copper Country Chapter of Trout Unlimited." The chapter was formed in February, 1998. Weglarz served as president for its first three years.
