Visitors to the Mendota Lighthouse
had a smooth ride across the channel (center left) during the third annual Open House July 2. Kent Larson, 15, of Houghton (top left), piloted the boat while his brother Brian Larson, 18 (top right), assisted passengers. Their father, Pete Larson, is doing historic restoration of the lighthouse for owner Gary Kohs (center, right). Guests had a chance to see the results of this work, including the refinished floor (bottom left). Voluntary contributions and money from tee-shirt sales collected during the event will go to the support of the Copper Harbor School. Teacher Diane Trudgeon (top left behind boat pilot Kent Larson) said she was pleased to see the turnout and the interest in the Copper Harbor School.
