The majority of Michigan copper mines were organized in the east: New York, Boston and Philadelphia. However, there were some companies in Ontonagon County formed by parties in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Cuyahoga, shown here, was one such mine. Located in the Porcupine Mountain District, a few thousand dollars were spent exploring this property with little success.
Other Ohio-based mines were the Carp Lake, Muscowabic and Nonesuch.
