The Ridge was another early Ontonagon County mine, located near Mass City. It prospered for many years, later being managed by Thomas Mason of the Quincy.
Below is a sight draft, written as a check but often used as cash due to the remote location of the mine.
The Arcadian was located in the east Hancock, or Ripley, area. Never really became a large producer. Was more well known during the 1950's and 60's as a tourist location.
The Massachusetts Copper-Land & Mining Company was probably typical of the ventures that started during the latter years of the Civil War when prices were high, probably did very little mining, then disappeared during the depression of 1873.
