The Central was famous almost from the beginning. It was the first mining operation which produced and sold enough copper in its first year of operation to fully pay all of the operational expenses.
It produced copper, and dividends, for over 30 years and finally closed its operations in 1898. It was later purchased and explored by C&H with no success.
