It was a BEAUTIFUL day here in East Lansing 62 and sunny!! Maybe I will try to send some your way : )
Looks like you may need a thaw from all the ice!

It was a beautimous day here in Cornell also. For a little while the temp was 50! Can't believe it. But I'll take it. The way the weather people are talking, I'm glad I got my snowblower tire replaced. The darn air wouldn't stay in it anymore. I'll put the wheel back on in the morning. :o)

Dan, are those mountain ash berries or what? They sure do make a bright picture. Thanks!

By Dan U, Silver City, MI on Thursday, March 14, 2002 - 07:57 am:

Ken,

They are Winterberry. It's kind rare up here, and
grows in marshy areas. If you snip the branches
from the trees in the fall, they truly last all
winter.

Missed you for a while, Dan--great shot!

Beautiful, sensual photo, Dan. Are these berries edible? On www.keweenawnow.com we've added a link to your Quietly Wild Web site on our new Community Links page under Photo Web sites -- just under the Pasty Cam link on that page.

Great shot,,, the robin's are back in the Eaton Rapids area, along with the cranes and red wing blackbirds, a sure sign that summer is on the way.
The wild turkeys are acting a little silly, but I guess its the time of year for that too!!
Can't say wer'e crazy about the mud, but that will pass too.
Keep the pic's coming they're wonderful!!!

The picture of the winterberries is incredibly beautiful. The picture of the chickadee with a "bad hair day" was great too. I'll be moving to my new home in Sedar Bay on Lake Superior sometime next fall. It's particularly gratifying to see how so many Yoopers find joy and beauty in all the seasons. Ive lived the "city life" since my first year of college at Suomi College (now Finlandia University). Now I hope to take time to "smell the roses" as do so many whose websites I have visited. Your efforts are much appreciated.

Thanks for the note, A². Be sure to email us when you are ready to move. We can assist in keeping you connected to the web through PastyNET. There is a rumor that PastyNET will be bringing wireless service to Sedar Bay by this fall.

Pictures of Michigan make me SO homesick! The air is so clean smelling in the winter air. Thank you for sharing this with everyone.
