Just like "A Christmas Story" when the dad says "Fra-gi-le... must be Italian..."

By Suzie on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 01:04 pm:

Could it be Chassell???

By WALT, OHIO on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 01:17 pm:

It's a MAJOR PRIZE!!!!

By Pelkie Pete on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 01:34 pm:

The picture puts me in mind of the comic genius, Jean Shepard who wrote the story that "A Christmas Story" was based on. Check out the book "In God We Trust All Others Pay Cash" by Jean Shepard. This is a classic book of humerous, bygone days and nostalgic Americana. The leg lamp is great!

By MGH, MI on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 03:20 pm:

*Hilarious* What a treat.
The fact that this lamp exists somewhere in the U.P. makes me love this place even more!

By Nancy Nelson, WI on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 05:16 pm:

Stillwater?

By ShawnR, GR, MI on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 05:57 pm:

A major award! Maybe it needs to be placed a little over to the left...

My guess is Lindell's in Lake Linden. Probably not correct, but they have so many neat old antiques there. Or maybe in one of the back rooms (dressing rooms) of the Calumet Theater?

Wish I could win one like that! That would be a fine addition to our front window!

By Renee in IL on Sunday, February 3, 2002 - 07:08 pm:

I didn't know these even really existed!! I thought it was made up for "A Christmas Story" - one of my favorite holiday films! It is a "major award" to see this picture! I love it! Thanks for the chuckle!!
Best wishes,
Renee in IL
PS When do we find out where it is located??

Ok, I just got home from a Super-Superbowl party and I'm not sure if I should keep the suspense going?!!!! Oh, what the heck, nobody's even close yet, so I guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow morning......hehehehe!!

By Mark Gulfport,MS on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 05:30 am:

Hey "you'se" guys. I think the picture of the lamp is very interesting and like most of the people commenting before me, I thought the lamp was only for the "Christmas Story." I have to congradulate all of you on this sight, because coming from the South, I never have seen such a interest in our area like you'se seem to have there. A friend (whose from the UP who's family frequently put pictures in this sight) told me about this sight, and I have enjoyed seeing the sights and reading your input.

By Carol in IL. on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 07:22 am:

Wow Pasty Cam found one of the Major Awards! Love that movie. I've got a neighbor who puts up there leg lamp every Christmas but it has a red shoe on it so I know this one's not in Champaign Illinois. Thanks for all the great pictures of the UP. Hope to visit this summer!

By Scott - Evanston, Illinois on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 07:31 am:

I'm not sure where it is, but you can get one of your own ;).

By Louise, Baltimore, MD on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 10:01 am:

If you would happen to be in the Baltimore, MD area, specifically in Hampton at Christimas time, you would see a duplicate lamp from the movie. The lamp has been on display every Christmas for the past 8 yrs. that I know of.

By Judy, Chicago, IL on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 10:27 am:

Fra gee lay!

By Vicki on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 10:44 am:

Hahahaha...I love it!

By Mary Drew on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 10:47 am:

I love the comments this picture generated! The actual lamp in this picture is located in Marquette, MI, at the Imperial Motel. Denise and Steve own and operate the motel and she told me that her Dad made this lamp for them! We've stayed at the Imperial Motel many times and have always loved seeing the lamp, because of our love for the movie "A Christmas Story" also. We figured pastycam fans would enjoy it too...glad you all did!! :)

By JimR, GR, MI on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 11:01 am:

let me just plug it in right here.....

By Carol WI on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 11:13 am:

I enjoyed the picture of the lamp. A Christmas Story is one of my favorite movies of all time!! I took my 2 sons to the movie when it was first in the theatre and never laughed so hard in my life at a movie. We still watch it every year at least once. Thanks

By R. Krug, Ann Arbor, MI on Tuesday, February 5, 2002 - 05:58 pm:

It's in a motel next to (west of) the Days Inn, Marquette, on Hwy 41. I've forgotten the name of the motel. We happened to stop there this summer, looking for a room we didn't find, but it's something you don't forget!
