I don't know that we've ever snuck up behind the snow thermometer before... always looking at the front side. But I'm afraid it hasn't gotten all that much attention this year, as it has seen very little use. While we've almost surpassed the all time low, Keweenaw Couty is running 100 inches behind last year on this date.

What a beautiful effect in the woods this afternoon with crystals forming on all the limbs and branches. Look at that top picture again. You may have thought it was a snow coating, but rather it was fog just minutes earlier, which distilled and settled into the tree tops. Standing there watching this quiet transition, it was a pleasure just to breath the air.

Wow...hardly any snow in the Keweenaw...That dosnt hapen too often..Usually by this time of the year the snow banks are huge!
No snow here in East Lansing todays high was 48...and grass in on the ground!
Well hope ya get to see more of the white stuff poor snowmobilers ,skiing and other winter fun is getting harder to do with this lack of snow!
Well see ya in the Spring..doing the drive when the weather is more cooperative~ I miss the U.P everyday..this site helps my homesickness alot.
Thanks for my virtual trip home everyday!

Great Picture Charlie! I've never seen that happen. We didn't get the fog in Big Bay (used to live there) that the keweenaw seems to get often.

Down here in Fenton, we're having a great winter! Very little snow. I miss the UP, but not the snow. You can have it. You can even come and take ours, the little that we get.

Your web-site is great! I was born and raised in Laurium, MI and I remember the record snow of 1978-79. I was almost 10 years old at the time. Lost my boots in the snow banks a few times. Do you have any old pictures from that winter to show my friends here in Libby, Montana? I don't think that they believe my stories. Their idea of a severe winter here makes me laugh. I do wish that we had better snow removal though. Those Upper Michigan snow removal workers are the "best!" I look forward to visiting Laurium again this coming summer.
