Chuck Voelker has done an outstanding job of presenting the history of this region of the U.P., and we are proud to host his Copper Country Reflections here at Pasty Central.

In addition to the historical photos, Chuck has assembled some fascinating documentation of the era, such as this receipt issued to Quincy Mine by S.E. Cleaves and Son, who operated the factory:

They help me to understand what life must have been like for my ancestors who were truly Copper
Country pioneers. Thanks so much for showing

My great-great grandfather was Thomas Fitzgerald. I understand that he was a machinist at the Portage Lake Foundry until his retirement after WWI. Thank you so much for this glimpse into my family's history.
