Hi Charlie,
we would like to make a request about putting a name on the picture at the end of the month.Ruth Ristola died at her home last weekend in Ontonagon. She grew up in copper country and spent the last 20 years in Ontonagon. She had just retired from full time at the Ontonagon county historical museum but still worked part time. She always had an answer for any question concerning the history of Ontonagon county and the surrounding areas. She was a great mother and a friend to all and will be sorely missed. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and to be a Yooper through and through.

Escanaba In Da Moonlight is scheduled for video release in September 2002. I bought the original sound track CD at their 1st annual celebration.

Just got my April issue of Sport Compact Car. There's an article with several pictures on the Lake Superior Pro Rally 2001 on Brockway Mountain. Doesn't say alot about the area, but the pics sure bring me back home!

Does anyone know if the Jeff Daniels movie, "Escanaba In Da Moonlight"; has been released on video yet?

I was fortunicate enough to recieve as a gift from my wonderful sister, an order of pasties. Our father grew up in the UP, later moving to Detroit, MI. As children growing up we vacationed in the UP, and born into a family of long time making of pasties, pasties were a highly enjoyed thing. These were better than GREAT.
Thanks Sis...It's been a long time since I had one. People just look at you when you tell them about UP pasties down here. I live in the mountains, in the Shenandoah VAlley in Virginia.

In reference to Finn yogurt, I recall my Grandmother and Mother making it, For a starter the milk has to be unpasturized, same as Lapp Cheese starter.

Thank you Pasty Central for the timely shipment to my friend in California. His birthday is tomorrow and he received them TODAY! What a pleasant surprise. Here I was worried they would not get there on time and instead they arrived a day early. So now my friend is enjoying his pasties and toasting us with sparkling cider. Thank you!

DW,
I was once told by my Dad that Bumbletown got it's name many years ago from the "sots" who lived there and would "bumble" down that steep hill. Don't know how true that is but i always believed it.
