Relatively warm the past few days. Not as pretty as winter... not as glorious as fall... but still a good time to explore the beauty of the Keweenaw.

To snap this shot, Jonathan climbed up on ... well, better not tell you what he's standing on, that might give it away.

The foreverness of Superior is so inviting.

By acr, il on Monday, November 27, 2000 - 11:57 pm:

Looks to me like one of the points out on the tip of Five Mile Point... inside the curve of the bay. I have some pictures from a visit this summer, looking the other way up the beach.

By PW on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 12:36 am:

It's Big Sand Bay, of course.

By Forbes, Minnesota on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 01:42 am:

Great Sand Bay, and he is standing on that thing
that has a sign that says, "Do Not Stand On
This Thing."

By Lucy, TX on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 02:18 am:

Mike, you have a way with words. Couldn't have said it better! And Jonathan sure has a way with cameras. What a beautiful shot. Thanks for sharing such beauty. This site always makes my day!

By Jim on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 07:27 am:

Thats gotta be Clark's point, On Great Sand Bay. Not far from the resting spot, of the huge piece of copper,in the news latley. I wonder where it will go? If it is ever raised.

By carol, MI on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 08:46 am:

Wish this were my office window!

By DAVID B. on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 10:16 am:

I DON'T CARE WHERE IT IS, IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND I WISH I WERE THERE.

By Denise, MI on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 10:20 am:

It's been a while since I've been there, but this looks more like Cat Harbor to me.

By Pat, MI on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 03:47 pm:

I'm with Jim. It looks like Clark's Point on Great Sand Bay. I have taken many pictures of it over the years, but none from this angle. Thanks for the great picture!

By Carole, Sterling Hts. on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 06:39 pm:

Definitely Great Sand Bay and Clarks Point. The grandparents old camp is south of here, right north of the Monks home.

By Paul, Hancock, MI on Tuesday, November 28, 2000 - 08:36 pm:

Always love seeing pictures of Great Sand Bay. It's one of my favorite spots. Nice shot Jon!

I must agree with the others - Clark's point on Great Sand Bay. Having lived on Great Sand Bay for the past six years it ought to look somewhat familiar to me! Jonathan told me once that Great Sand Bay was one of his favorite spots in the Keweenaw. I think I know when this picture was taken....

By Cousin Jack on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 - 04:04 pm:

Clark's Point it is!
Anyone else notice how many different shades of blue there are between Great Sand Bay and the top of the picture?

By Ned Huwatschek, WI on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 - 08:15 pm:

To all of our friends at the Gay Bar, Voels and Sean say howdy. It's the view from Crabby Jack's place. Please call Crabby collect if this is correct.

By Ken Symes on Wednesday, November 29, 2000 - 08:37 pm:

It's either Crabby Jack's place or the old bucket of blood bar...either way call Crabby collect!!

By Nolan, Washington on Friday, December 1, 2000 - 08:58 am:

I could have sworn that I was looking at a picture of the hurontown dam. God I miss that place.

By Randy on Friday, March 23, 2001 - 07:27 pm:

It's my uncle's cabin. We spent time there every summer. I even lived at Sand Bay for a couple of summers and falls and went to school in Calument.
