I know all MTU grads contribute a lot to society, but does anyone know any that have extaoardinary notable? Just curious.

Thanks for highlighting these fantastic young men and women. I know the AF officers personally, and they'll do MTU and their country proud!

By Tim Devarenne, Ithaca, NY on Tuesday, December 18, 2001 - 02:35 pm:

a notable graduate of MTU was Melvin Calvin who, in 1961, recieved the Nobel prize for chemistry for his discovery of the reactions carried out by plants to convert atmospheric carbon dioxide into sugars. This process has become known as the Calvin Cycle and is part of the reactions otherwise known as photosynthesis.

Well CONGRATS to all the new grads!
I was up last May 2000 to attend my brothers graduation from MTU,It is a difficult school and for its well known for supurb education in engineering!
I also managed to pick up a few stickers, license plate frame and pther MTU stuff to deck out my car..So I am one of the few Michigan Tech cars I see down here most (and I do see a few) East Lansing is a plethra of Michigan State Green and White...But I am very happy to be showing the pride for my hometown Univeristy!

The guy taking the oath on the far left is Chris Beattie, my best friend. We are both Air Force officers and still keep in touch and see each other often. I know the 3 other Air Force officers as well. I was commissioned on 20 May 2000 at Michigan Tech AFROTC Det 400.
