Does anybody know the scoop on TV-5 moving its operations to Marquette? We saw this sign just outside of the station today, the old building in Calumet which has served various functions over the years (including police station). No doubt the sign is referring to Jay Polk, the local weather guy.

Another staffer at TV-5 is moving a little farther east... to the eastern U.S. Steve Jones was one of our first PastyNET dial-in members back in '99, and he has been offered a position with ESPN. (Home town boy done good). We'll especially miss Steve's music at the Hut in Kearsarge, where he has played his guitar for several years with such local talent as Rob Fritz and the late Heine Ollila.

Strange war up there. Calumet tries to steal one of Marquette's young beautiful ladies and Marquette tries to steal Calumet's TV station.

I remember Haney Ollila. a giant of a man. hard worker. yet he had a musical side, big rough hands able to plunk out all the old tunes.

Guess its a good week to remember old friends.

Speaking of old friends... Just checking through the archives to see if we had a picture of Haney(sp), I did find one of his brother Les Ollila, standing with another friend known by many who frequent these pages - Pastor Charles Hart (and his buck from a few years back).

Last summer when we looked at a employment ad for Channel 5 it stated "will be relocating to Marquette in the near future". Sad, as it was always interesting to have a Keewanau station based in Calumet. obviously has been in the works for awhile.
