Taking a nostalgic walk along Cliff Drive... Of course I was looking UP at the cliffs and the surrounding scenery, remembering family picnics and poking around in the tailings of the "digs" looking for a scrap of copper or obsidian. At my feet this beauty was going about its business. I stuck my camera down at it, and got one of those lucky shots that cannot be planned. Butterflies don't exactly sit still for portraits.

Luckier than I was Sun morning. I was not 10 feet away from a doe and her fawn up at Agate harbor - thru a window so they didn't run - and did I have my camera? NOoooooooo!

Great picture Nancy! This is a Tiger Swallowtail, papilio glaucus. What a nice shot with the orange/yellow flower.
