Perfect weather in the Copper Country today, maybe a bit breezy... and one of the biggest turnouts ever at a Bridgefest.

Any former Brigefesters out there who couldn't make it this year? We'll have more coverage on tomorrow's Cam, as the event continues.

Delays for our family vacation caused us to miss out on the Bridgefestivities this year. Can't wait to get back to breathing the purest, most vitalizing air on earth.

Hey, just got home from the fireworks. Great show as usual, and a beautiful night as well. Thanks to Houghton and Hancock. Great job.

When was this bridge built? I can recall being stuck in traffic a few times when the old one was swung open.
Any pictures of the old bridge in the archives? It was quite a sight to see the center section rotate enough to allow those big freighters to pass through.

Sure loved living in the UP with my children back in 1998. Sights like these and the rest of the beautiful ones you have bring back fond memories of one of the most wonderful places on earth! Great website - I check in regularly to see what's going on in the UP.

Hi, not from the area (I live in Pennsylvania) but watch the bridge webcam often....tell me..why is it sometimes in the upper position, and sometimes in the lower.....is there a travel deck on both upp and lower portions?

By Charlie at Pasty Central on Thursday, March 14, 2002 - 05:38 pm:

Yes, Chris, there are 2 decks. In the winter they lower it down for snowmobile traffic, and in summer keep it up for the boats to pass.
