There is a wonderful little window of opportunity before the blackflies come in the spring, and after the mosquitos leave in the fall. Warm, beautiful days in the Keweenaw

These lovable yooper kids were spotted on the old foot bridge in Eagle River, checking out the fascinating newer wooden bridge - and the roaring falls.

It sure is a beautimous time right now! Snow is
gone, no bugs ('cept for about a bazillion of those lady bugs) warm breezes blowing, haven't had to mow that lawn yet. Life in da UP is good!
What a beautiful shot of those Eagle River 'pixies'. Heartwarming! Is the pilot-house
from the TIOGA still there? Haven't been through
Eagle River for a few years now.

The winter is past
The rain is over and gone
The flowers appear on the earth
The time of the singing of birds is come
And the voice of the dove is heard in our land

This picture sure tugs on my heart-strings. When the May pictures loaded I immediately knew where this shot was taken. I grew up in Calumet and have often stood on this bridge. It is a great place for these little guys to grow up. :o)

Hi all and Happy May Day!! Things must be a tad warmer than they use to be on May 1st! I LONGED to be able to have a birthday party OUTSIDE but that never happened. We always had snow piles in our yard on this day...of course that was many years ago!! The warm wind, no snow and more importantly, no bugs sounds great!
I will be heading back for a couple of weeks shortly! Could use some Yooper help.....anyone know of some good beaches with driftwood this year?? I hope to do some exploring and beach combing!
Thanks and have a great day

Stix,

There's a ton of nice driftwood on the beaches here in Eagle River.
