Lots of new snow this week in the Keweenaw. Gitche Gumee gets its share of the Lake Effect, nestled in the pines and cedars at Eagle River.

One of the most notable things about this place is the striking difference between the seasons (known as Winter vs. July). It's like a different world in the summer, when most of our friends come to visit.

If you ever get the chance to visit this neck of the woods in January... just be sure to bring your long-johns.

In warmer days

Heck, Fortchuly is when us Yoopers change into
our summer longjohns! Been years since I've been
past Gitche-Gumme, up to the 'ice mine'.

Great picture. I enjoy when you post pictures from Gitche Gumee I used to attend camp there as a youth and it was a great bible camp. Looking forward to seeing more pictures from there in the future.

Lots of fresh popsicles hanging from that roof!

Reminds me of the icicles hanging from my roof in Houghton. Miss that part of living in the modern ticky-tack houses.

My family and I have been going to family camp at Gitche Gumee for a long time. Sometimes, my dad and I go up for work week in May to get the camp ready for the next season of campers. This picture brought back a lot of memories from the past summers and I hope you keep putting more picture of gitche gumee up. thank you!
