In memory of Col. Ronald Bila, My friend, my daughters Gramps' and a decorated American. A man who loved America, fought for America, and was proud to be an American. Originally from Michigan, he'd follow the Tigers and Red Wings, tell stories of growing up, and mistakes he made - learned from, and got on with life. He loved his grand daughter (as well as his sons and daughter), and his wife - Elaine. Ron loved telemarketing calls, as he loved to haggle both quality, price, and transgressions (from the respective caller's company). Woodworking and restoring old Chevy trucks (he and Elaine once drove from Colorado to Michigan in an old, old restored truck...) used up most of Ron's time in after he retired from the Army. Golf was his friend/enemy. His family his reason for doing it all... You are not forgotten...

In memory of my grandmother, Signe Anderson, who passed away in March several years ago. She was always considerate of other peoples feelings until her dementia in later years when she became brutally honest. I only wish that the last thing she said to me was something other than that I had bad breath. But she left her family with many "Siggie-isms" to pass on to the next generation.

I saw Mike Stimac's name on a previous post; if it's the same Mike I knew, I can't count the times I laced up my hockey skates in the back room of Mike's store in Copper City because the ice rink shack was locked after school. I can still picture him greeting us as we walked in the store after school. What a character!

I lived in Ironwood years ago around 1991 and a guy worked at the County Market there. His nickname was Beazer and he died on M28 his motorcycle ran into a semi truck. I never knew what happened to his family and i cant even remember his real name but i have never forgotten him, he was a really nice guy and its so tragic that his life was taken so early.. he was in his early 20's at the time. Rest in peace Beazer

By Kathi, Ferndale on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 02:49 pm:

What an absolutely gorgeous sunset, and absolutely fitting for the month-end tributes. In memory of my grandfather, Ervin W. Oswald (04/30/1907 - 03/03/1983), and casting director/actress Cecily Adams, 39, daughter of "Get Smart" actor Don Adams, wife of actor Jim Beaver, mother of two-year old Madeline, who died on March 3, 2004 following a hard-fought 5-month-long battle with lung cancer. She was a non-smoker and organic food proponent and this was totally unexpected and unfair. RIP, and watch over our military and our loved ones.

By from below the bridge on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 - 06:05 pm:

The Diocese of Saginaw lost a truly great man this past Saturday. Bishop Ken Untener died suddenly of a form of leukemia after only going on leave a month or so ago. Actually the loss is great to all in the area he served and he was truly a servant. He lived wherever he landed, gave away his gifts and belongings, never forgot a name or face (never cracked a book at mass, he had a photographic memory and recited the gospel from memory) played hockey on an artificial leg as well as playing a mean honkey tonk piano. He can never be replaced and the world is the less without him. But I suppose there are some smiles in heaven today.

Larry Humphrey and Arlan Ollankato. Knew one and bet I would have liked them both.........Not to spoil the spot, but I really hope this mess "over there" does not turn out like "mine" did in 1970. We need to learn......Every life is precious. Soft power can heal....Hard power seems to just enable resolve...It is a game that can't be won and probably not worth "winning". We just can't afford the loss. OGO

In memory of my dad, Bob Sturos, who passed away suddenly from our lives, 3 months ago. Dad is surely going to be missed by us all; his famliy, grandchildren, and his wife/our beloved mother, as his "giving and giving attitude" to us all never stopped. This beautiful sunset brings memories of the many that Dad enjoyed over Lake Superior and over Portage Lake at our camp in Bootjack - as each day ends with these peaceful sunsets, we all pray that God gives us strength to continue on and to keep a watch over us all, including Dad up in Heaven.

Nichole and Brian life will never be the same without you; we love and miss you oh so dearly; words cannot express just how much we truely miss you; as each day slips on by thats just one more day without you; I remember all the good times we had together; Nichole being my little sister I saw her grow from a baby to the bright shining star that she had become; and her family feels so robbed; you could just never imagine how hard it is to have such a young person taken from you til' they're gone; Brian all the good times we had together will be cherished forever; for new ones can never be made; life just truely sucks without you guys around; in my own thoughts God had maken a mistake by taking you guys away; there was so mush more good that could have shown through you; you will be forever missed by all of your family and friends; LOVE YOU BOTH
