Our new guest gallery just keeps on expanding. Here's a pleasant view from the Galbraith cottage on Keweenaw Bay. Just on a hunch I put "Keweenaw Bay" in the search box, and it came back with a spectacular sunset by Donn de Yampert. Try the search feature, browse the amazing slide shows, and by all means, if you have photos of any U.P. location you would like to share, join the gallery today.

To the Galbraith's...

You've got your Heaven here on Earth. You are some of the lucky ones. No doubt. I'm jealous! :-D

Check out the Saturday June 27, 1998 picture. Could that be our mysterious Toivo?

Anyone in Ontonagon...my Mom and Dad are just finishing their retirement home on Oak street. Stop in and say HI. They found pasty.com for me, and now I check the pics everyday to see what I am still missing.

Hey, Charlie--I'm coming up for the Aura Jamboree this coming weekend and will be taking more pictures. Can pictures of musicians be put in my Gallery for possible use as the picture of the day on pastycam? Or do you have to have the musicians' permission?

By Missin the UP from NJ on Saturday, July 12, 2003 - 07:55 pm:

Too beautiful for words....

Thanks for the "take me away" shot!

Marsha, when covering news events it is not usually customary to ask the subject's permission to publish the picture. But I'm sure if you did ask them, they would be honored and give a positive response.

Hey Don, long time no see or hear

It's only fitting that I add a message to the board today. My wife Margaret and I enjoyed a couple of pasties this evening way down here in Battle Creek (actually, we had them at the pizza place in nearby Nashville, MI). We both agreed that the pasties were good -- but not quite like the real thing in the UP. Sure do miss Papa Paul's Pasties in downtown Marquette! (Is that place still there?)

And to our favorite-ist sister-in-law Marsha -- thanks for the excellent photo. But didn't Gary take that pic?!
Love ya,
Rick

To Rich: Regarding the picture of Toivo (?) at the mailbox. If you look REAL close one can see that the face is out of focused or blurred. I also believe that mailbox is located on M26 between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. While up there this June, the husband and I rode past it on our evening drive to Copper Harbor.

Mimi and I are getting ready for the Aura Jamboree, too. I'll be playing my tenor banjo again with Kilpela and Friends and others on Sat. We love it. Don't think there was any bean soup last year, 'eh? Do you suppose there was less music because of no beans? :>)

By Ken from da UP on Saturday, July 12, 2003 - 11:18 pm:

Love the way this pic is framed with the leaves and branches. Must be Aura and/or Pequaming over there?

By Marsha, Genesee and Aura on Saturday, July 12, 2003 - 11:22 pm:

The picture was taken from Aura looking
westward towards Assinins. At sunrise the other shore glows red, so we get to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets looking west!

By Jim Copper Country on Saturday, July 12, 2003 - 11:45 pm:

Those sandy shores of Keweenaw are one of two very spactacular sandstone cliff areas along the west side of Keweenaw Bay south of the Portage Channel Lower Entry.....one at the Houghton/Baraga County line, and the other by the community of Keweenaw Bay and the US 41 roadside park. I'd guess this pix is of the former....if you look closely, Whealkate Bluff (behind South Range) is visible in the pix over the cliff area.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 06:02 pm:

It looks like the picture was taken looking just southwest enough (about 247°, to the WSW of Aura) to keep Pequaming Point out of the picture ... unless it's just hidden behind the leaves on the right.
