Talk about the perfect way to spend Thanksgiving vacation here in the Copper Country. Aladino Mandoli and his family got bundled up, grabbed their sleds and headed to the hill for some family fun! If you're not sure this was that much fun, just look at the faces on the youngsters and you'll see the pure joy there, the thrill of the ride shows in the smile at the end of the run.

I have to say, my favorite shot of the bunch is the second one. I just love the look on that young girl's face as she's barreling towards the camera and Dino. Sure hope he jumped out of the way in time!

Even the big kids got in on the fun, zipping down the hill and flying over jumps. Of course there were a few tumbles, too, but no men, women or children were harmed during the event. Please do get outside and try this at home. You can modify the type of hill and sled however you want, but by all means, get outside in the fresh Keweenaw air and don't come back in until your cheeks are as rosy as the little lady in the fifth photo. Cheap and healthy entertainment!

The famous Laplander hill, in Woodside (Dollar Bay) has seen many kids (big and little) throughout the years. Seeing everyone having a good time brought back so many wonderful memories. Four generations and going strong!

"Oh what fun it is....." Sweet pictures!
My parent's home sat on a hill and every time we had snow in Nashville, kids came from everywhere to sled down that hill. We did it the old fashioned way....sleds with runners.

I see fear, I see questions: "Is my life insurance paid up?"
Cool pix...I give the last one a 10.0 on the landing.

There are few things in winter that make me smile. Seeing a family having fun together is one of them. Way to go gang. Great pictures.

These kids are having a blast! Winter vacation can't come soon enough for them I bet! No matter one's age, sledding always makes you feel like a kid again! As a kid in winter time I would harness up my Shetland pony to my Flexible Flyer sled and had my own one horse open sleigh.

Hi
Right now in downstate SE Michigan we have damp grass, so no sledding.

When I was a kid, we had wooden sleds with runners, which you can steer. My brother, who has a kid, got custody of our childhood sleds wen mom was ready to clear out her attic.

We Laplander cousins had so much fun going down that hill both in the winter and the summer. Delightful family memories. Thanks for the pics, Dino. They are awesome. :o)

As Maurice Chevalier sang in "Gigi," Oh.."I remember it well." I do,
I do.

Dollar Bay had some awesome places to sled. Laplanders, Wetton's, F St. going downhill from Banfield's old store past Turcotte's house, Big Hole, the pipeline by Dougdale's and Main St from the Baptist Church to the Ice Rink.
