When Brenda Leigh decided to make a fall visit to Point Iroquois Lighthouse, near Brimley, she never expected to have any four-legged company, but that's just what she found when she got there. Brenda said this cat met her as she was getting out of the car and followed her everywhere she went. There was no one else around, so she just assumed this fluffy kitty belongs to the caretaker of the lighthouse.

To her surprise, when she started up the spiral staircase to check out the view from the top, the kitty came right along with her. Brenda said there was a sign that said to read it before climbing and to use the handrails…she doesn't think the kitty paid any attention to the sign, though.

With the last two photos of the view from atop the lighthouse, I can understand why that kitty takes every opportunity it gets, to check out the view. Pretty outstanding whether looking down at the campus or out over Lake Superior.

Pretty cat, but not very effective camo in the woods; that'll change in a few weeks.....

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 07:55 am:

Thank you, Brenda, for these photos with no snow!! Even though the sweet kitty adds a white touch. Love them all.

how blue the eyes are

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 08:11 am:

The reddish coloring tint and blue eyes, this kitty could be a Flame Point Siamese mix. Pretty!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 08:20 am:

Glad you said that, Janie, I was thinking along the same line because its facial coloring is very unusual.

Great shots! Thanks Brenda! What a fun time.

WOW!!! Thanks Brenda...if it wasn't for you, I'd not
get out and about and check things out! XOXO

Awesome Pictures, I could live in a light house.
Thanks for Sharing.

The caretaker belongs to the kitty, is more like it.
Nice pix!

Great pictures. Thanks for the tour. It is nice to see a lighthouse that isn't in a state of disrepair like so many of them are. Excuse the grammatical incorrectness but there ain't many places you ain't been.

Oh what a pretty kitty! I have never been to that
lighthouse! thanks for sharing the great pics!

By Jose (Jtraveler) on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 01:45 pm:

I, too, would gladly live in a lighthouse. Just think of the privacy and solitude that a person could have...

By Jose (Jtraveler) on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 - 01:50 pm:

Beautiful shots, Brenda! Now I know for sure I have to get back UP there and see it for myself.

Thank you and thanks to Mary for posting them.

The kitty cat has a beautiful view.

Nice pictures that bring back memories. I visited
Point Iroquois Lighthouse during my last trip to
Sault Sainte Marie. We went to help a friend and
work at the boat races. He took us to the
lighthouse one evening. I was taken by two things,
1) the large size of the light keepers house and
2) the height of the bluff overlooking the
entrance to the St. Mary's River. It's a beautiful
view, especially at dusk with the river all lit up
by the lights of the Lakers. I didn't see any cats
though.
